I am Charles Kurt Shepherd, and I am running for the Office of Surveyor of Madison County.

I was born and raised in Madison County. Following my graduation from Highland High School, I joined the United States Navy serving for five years overseas on a Search and Rescue team for the US Mediterranean Six Fleet. This experience gave me a broad perspective and reinforced how fortunate I was to be serving the United States of America. Following my enlistment, I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration at Ball State University. I have since furthered my education by attending Indiana Wesleyan University master’s program.

Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work in my family's lumber business in Madison County where I gained skills in both construction and retail services. The bulk of my career has been working in the Insurance industry, where over a span of fifteen years I held roles specializing in Commercial, Agronomy, Institutional and Public Entity insurance. I have a successful history dealing with local government and have worked in 80 of Indiana’s 92 counties. As I transition from working in a corporate environment, I am excited to take on the challenges of a public service role serving Madison County.

Regarding the question "Why Shepherd for Surveyor?”, I am excited about our growing community and am a passionate steward for the preservation of our natural resources and county infrastructure so they may be passed on for generations. I feel that my experience can bring value to Madison County by optimizing opportunities while navigating bureaucracy.

I have two wonderful daughters and a dog named Trump. I reside in Richland Township in Madison County and am excited to take on the Surveyor role and look forward to working for the people of Madison County.
